Distributed video is a newer technology that has a central location that receives or stores your video and distributes it throughout your home. This means you can watch your favorite video whether the source is satellite, cable, broadcast TV, DVD, VCR, camcorder, or camera.

Analog Audio

An analog audio system is an inexpensive system that distributes the same audio signal to every room and uses a basic knob-type volume control in each room to control the audio level in that room.

Abus Audio

Abus Systems uses CAT5 (Ethernet) cable to distribute audio signals to each room and return control signals from the keypad. There, an amplifier in the the keypad amplifies the selected signal (15 watts total) and sends it on to the speakers in that room. This is a good system because of the availability of multiple signals in each room and also because there is also a local input available at the keypad in addition to the selected central audio signal.

Digital Audio

You can maximize your audio experience throughout your home with a digital audio system. Various systems offer up to 100 watts per channel with state-of-the-art touch panels and keypads to control multiple rooms as well as adjust volume, base, treble, and balance in each room. These systems also support party modes and adjustable color buttons. These systems use analog audio wiring and CAT5 digital control wiring between the central controller and each room.

Knox Video

Knox Video has an 8x8 Video Matrix Switch that allows any one of 8 video inputs to be independently distributed to 8 video output channels. They also the MEDIAFLEX8, an 8x8 Presentation Switch that accepts up to eight composite, Y/C, component, or analog HDTV video sources, eight unbalanced or balanced stereo audio sources, and connects any one of the input sources to one or more of the eight zones with both volume and tone control (VT).  An independent 8x8 VGA matrix (DB15HD) is available in the same chassis to route high-resolution sources such as graphics generators or laptop pc's to several downstream devices such as data monitors and LCD projectors without loss of resolution.
